Our budget estimating and cost planning service enables an initial likely magnitude of cost for the project to be established; including identification of any areas of abnormal or excessive cost. This is very much a “live” document which is refined as more design information is available, and at the appropriate time the original cost plan becomes a detailed quantification and pricing exercise, establishing a finite cost for the project.
Bills of Quantities.
One of our main activities for contractors is the production of Bills of Quantities to enable the accurate pricing of the scope of works and tender specification. Usually produced on the basis of “Builders Quantities” which are of sufficient accuracy for the needs of tendering contractors while being quicker and more efficient to prepare than quantities in accordance with Standard Methods of Measurement.
With many years of estimating experience, and with excellent contacts within the specialist supply chain, we can provide accurate and efficient stand-alone estimating services or assist your existing estimating staff with any aspect of the tendering process.
We provide a comprehensive review of all contract documents and can advise you on the risks and opportunities associated with your obligations under the contract, together with suggesting appropriate qualifications to your tender and provide assistance with the negotiation of suitable contract terms and conditions.
With significant experience in ‘design and build’ projects, we can advise upon and prepare suitable appointment documents for other consultants and your design team.
As a central area of our expertise gained during many years of working for contracting businesses, we have extensive experience in all aspects of preparing accurate and competitive tenders; from reviewing the Contract and any client amendments, to ensuring that the best commercially viable bid is submitted in line with you fully understanding your contractual obligations.

Particularly when working for major contactors, we are very aware of the reliance upon the supply chain and the need for sub-contract procurement to be of the highest standard. We have developed excellent relationships with first-class subcontractors over many years and can provide all the essential documentation to ensure that the supply chain procurement process is as effective as possible.
Once work starts on site, variations to the scope of works and specification are commonplace. We can help by ensuring that you maximise your entitlements under the contract.
Claiming your full entitlement within interim valuations is essential to maximise your project cash flow. By preparing, or carrying out a detail review of your application for payment we are able to ensure that everything is covered and you are in a position to maximise your income.
By drawing up or checking sub-contractors’ documents and designers’ appointments we are able to accurately transfer your contractual obligations to your supply chain and consultants on a back-to-back basis giving you essential protection should something go wrong during the construction stage.
Once handed over, the accurate and thorough finalisation of your account with the client is a key aspect of the project’s closedown. We ensure that all your financial entitlements under the contract are identified and included in your account for presentation to, and agreement with, the client.
